Masaryk University celebrates 103rd anniversary of its foundation

28 January 2022 is a reason to celebrate for Masaryk University. It is opening the next chapter of its rich history with optimism and bold plans.

Sure, it is not a round-number anniversary. From the purely numerical perspective 103 is far less attractive than the recent celebrations of the 100th anniversary. During this time the university gave itself fresh visual style including a brand new logo; it organised celebrations and meetings for its alumni. Then unexpected events occurred. However the university is successful in its response to the developments of the pandemic, which is why it not only commemorates its birthday, it will celebrate it too.

On the day of the anniversary you can listen to speech by Rector Martin Bareš and enjoy the “birthday concert” by string quartet Indigo Quartet. It will be posted at 10 a.m. on the university’s YouTube channel.

Masaryk University is opening the next chapter of its rich history with optimism and bold plans. In accordance with the Strategic plan published in 2021 the university demonstrates increased focus on social responsibility and sustainability, and these activities are already guiding numerous projects and activities. It ambitions are demonstrated through prestigious events which shall promote the MUNI brand as well as the city of Brno on the global scale, be it the Mendel Genetics conference as the key event of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of birth of G. J. Mendel or the International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI), as the two most science-oriented events of the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Masaryk University is moving forward in the right direction. More information on what the university is expecting in 2022 can be found in a separate article.
