MU honours its outstanding researchers

On Tuesday 12 December, the most successful scientists or research teams at Masaryk University were awarded the MUNI SCIENTIST AWARD 2023 for their outstanding achievements, publications in prestigious journals and research results.

The MUNI Scientist award 2023 included the Career restart.

From 2020 onwards, the Grant Agency of Masaryk University (GAMU) awards are presented to Masaryk University researchers for their outstanding achievements. Their purpose is to increase the motivation of the University’s researchers and to spread the good name of Masaryk University in the scientific community and the general public. This year GAMU awarded 37 outstanding researchers or research teams. More than thirty researchers attended the award ceremony in the refectory of the Mendel Museum. Among the awardees were scientists from nine faculties of Masaryk University, as well as researchers from CEITEC and the Institute of Computer Science. Some of the awarded projects are interdisciplinary.

“I am glad that we are meeting here again in person, as the award ceremony was interrupted by the covid pandemic in the last few years. The Rector was also looking forward to this evening, but unfortunately had to cancel due to health reasons,” said Šárka Pospíšilová, Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies, in her welcoming speech.

The award ceremony took place in the refectory of the Mendel Museum.

Lukáš Palko, Director of the Research & Development Office, then presented interdisciplinary research projects and the rationale behind the method of project evaluation and the various levels of GAMU awards for students, PhD candidates and excellent scientists. He also summarised the opportunities for obtaining international grants and the success of individual faculties in obtaining ERC, Horizon and Teaming grants.

The evening also included the announcement of the Career Restart, in which 12 grants under 25 ongoing projects were awarded to Martina Dvořáčková, Petra Kolísková, Flavia Landucci and Anežka Sharma from the Faculty of Science, Alžběta Filipová and Pavla Vizváry from the Faculty of Arts, Petra Chovancová and Michala Moravcová from the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Alena Macková from the Faculty of Social Studies, Pavla Marečková from the Faculty of Education, Tereza Váňová from the Faculty of Medicine and Michaela Procházková from CEITEC.
