Thousands contributed to victims of Prague shooting: MU to present cheque for CZK 1 million

One month after the tragic shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University has completed its charitable collection for those affected by the attack.

Commemorative gathering was also in front of MU Faculty of Arts.

Masaryk University announced the charitable collection on 22 December 2023 and people could donate at the MU Shopping Centre. By yesterday evening, a thousand donors had joined in, raising more than CZK 900,000, and Masaryk University added its own contribution to bring the total to one million.

In addition to the launch of the collection, MU held a commemorative event in front of the Faculty of Arts in Brno, organised by the Student Chamber of the MU Academic Senate, and a memorial service in Petrov in the wake of the tragedy.

Masaryk University would like to express its lasting gratitude to all who contributed. The money collected will be handed over to the Rector of Charles University, Milena Králíčková, in the coming days in the form of a symbolic cheque in the amount of CZK 1 million.
