Results are in: try dishes according to students’ recipes

Indian red lentil dhal with coconut milk and basmati rice; chickpea curry goulash with baked vegetables and steamed rice; or vegan saffron risotto with zucchini: these are the three “winners” of the student contest that will soon find their way to MU canteens.

One of the winning dishes is vegan saffron risotto with zucchini

The contest for the best vegetarian or vegan dish was announced by MU’s Canteens Board in June. In it, students were encouraged to submit their ideas for dishes, listing the exact weight of ingredients, price ranges and availability, as well as the realistic chance to prepare the dish for 100 to 500 patrons.

“Based on our analysis of the recipes submitted, we selected three. We think they are a valuable addition to our offer in canteens. They will be offered once a month in the vegan category. The listing will include the name of the author, and possibly the faculty they attend. The frequency will be based on the popularity of the dish among patrons,” says Head of Canteen Management Tomáš Kala.

Faculty of Medicine student Ema Fukasová received a reward from university merch from MU Vice-Rector Jana Fialová.
Zuzana Matějová from the Faculty of Social Studies and Samuel Ivančík from the Faculty of Medicine also succeeded in the competition.
