Scientists across MU fields accept MUNI Scientist awards

MUNI Scientist recognises scientists for their results and significant achievements in their fields; the purpose of the award is to motivate them towards top-quality research.

Opening the conference were Vice-rector for research and doctoral studies Šárka Pospíšilová and the Head of the Research and Development Office Lukáš Palko. He described the activities of the Grant Agency of Masaryk University, its individual grants and forms of financing. “The agency focuses on students of master’s and doctoral programmes, as well as individual scientists and teams. The aim is to boost the prestige of their work and the success of the university in receiving prestigious foreign grants,” Palko explained.

Nominations were sent by Vice-deans for Science and Research of all ten faculties, directors or heads of institutes, Head of the Research and Development Office of the Rector’s Office and the Vice-rector for Research and Doctoral Studies. A total of 51 scientists were recognised who have achieved exceptional results in their work. So far, over 120 scientists have received the award and the university will continue with this form of recognition.

“I would like to thank all of you for your work for the university and wish you the best of luck in research and development thanks to this form of support,” Šárka Pospíšilová said at the ceremony at the end of the conference.
