Do not miss the chance to secure funding to launch your own business. Every enterprising student at Masaryk University can apply with their idea and test their skills in front of a jury and competing teams. Registration for this year’s Start Your Business competition remains open until 16 January 2026.
The competition is open to students in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes across all disciplines. All the applicants need is a business idea, an understanding of the market and competition and, above all, serious commitment. “Start Your Business is an ideal opportunity to test a business plan and gain feedback from experienced experts. The most successful students receive financial support to start their business, but the feedback they get is just as valuable and helps them refine and develop their ideas,” says Jana Joklová Kaňová, Masaryk University’s entrepreneurship coordinator, and adds: “This year brings a new special prize in the Social Entrepreneurship category. It targets teams that want to use business to actively address social, community or environmental challenges with a sustainable impact.”
Individuals and teams of up to four members can enter the competition and up to twenty of the best ideas will be selected for the final round. Before presenting their final projects, participants complete training in presentation and communication skills and can also use the entrepreneurship advisory service and guidance from the event’s partners and supporters. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in June 2026.
Students can register in Czech or English via an online form.

Previous finalists have presented projects ranging from sustainable compostable modelling clay and a self-care app for oncology patients to AI tools for dentists and macarons as art. “It’s amazing to see the creativity of the applicants every year. It shows just how many enterprising students with great ideas there are at Masaryk University,” says Joklová Kaňová, who encourages readers to explore the successful projects on the website.
