MUNI DAY attracts foreign students for quiz and TED-talk

Having considered foreign students, MUNI DAY organisers have prepared several dedicated events.

The MUNI DAY university-wide event starts on Wednesday, 14 May.

The MUNI DAY university-wide event starts on Wednesday, 14 May, at the Bohunice University Campus. In addition to the broad selection of activities, foreign students can take part in some activities dedicated specifically for them. Registration via the website is still open.

Ping-pong or quiz

New additions to this year’s programme include a table tennis tournament from 12 to 4 p.m. in the large Vinařská gym specifically for Erasmus+ students. Participation is limited; those interested must register in advance by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Two events are prepared for foreign students by MU’s Language Centre. If you enjoy testing your knowledge of different subjects, you shouldn't miss the Campus Quiz from 11 a.m. Inspired by the classic pub quiz format, teams will compete to answer questions on a variety of topics. Since the quiz is created by Czech language lecturers, some of the topics will be, for example, Czech language, the Czech Republic and Czech culture trivia. It is again necessary to register for the event in advance; teams of three to five players will be formed on the spot.

During MUNI DAY, fun activities permeate the entire campus, both inside the buildings and outside.

Anyone interested in the life and studies of foreign medical students in Brno can head to the competition in student presentations in the Czech language from 10 a.m. in the compulsory course Czech for Foreigners VIII of the 4th year of the Faculty of Medicine. Not only will you learn more about the students’ experiences, but you will also be actively involved in their final evaluation.

Fairytale TED-talk

At noon, the afternoon block of MUNI DAY will start, to which not only MU students and employees are invited, but also MU alumni. Gastro stands will open; you can just enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the chill out zone or unwind while listening to DJ sets or the afternoon block of bands.

Those who have not had enough educational events can visit the CEITEC MU atrium at 3:30 p.m. to enjoy a special edition of Sip of Science, a series of lectures in the format of TED-talk, i.e. short presentations. Denys Biriukov, who focuses on interactions between biological membranes and proteins, will take the audience on a fairy tale about the centuries-long path to molecular simulations. Learn more about the activities of CEITEC´s research groups and shared laboratories directly from its young scientists. The lecture will be followed by discussion and networking in an informal atmosphere. The event is available to the general public subject to a prior registration on the website.
